We will leave from Santa Cruz (1) seaport, along the beautiful northern coast of the island heading towards Icod de los Vinos, city of the eighteenth century, where we will make a brief stop to observe its main attraction, the famous Drago Milenario (2), which is 3.000 years old.

Then we will move to the town of Garachico (3), and go for a walk in the beautiful old town reaching the Castillo de San Miguel, a small fortress of the sixteenth century used when Garachico was the largest port on the island.
We will reach Mirador de Garachico (4) (photostop) direction northwest of the island.
At the Cumbre de Erjos we will descend to Santiago del Teide and its coastline, from where they will observe the Acantilado de los Gigantes (5). Crossing the coastal municipalities of the south of the island, we will arrive at Playa de las Americas (6), we will have some time for visiting this area and go shopping.

We will continue on the motorway towards the town of Candelaria (7), where we will make a brief visit to the Patron Saint of the Canary Islands, and then we will head towards the port at Santa Cruz.
On the coast of Santiago del Teide is Puerto Santiago, and there, the beaches of La Arena and Alger or Guía, as well as the national turistic center of Acantilados de los Gigantes, with hotels facilities, a marina, restaurants and swimming pools. There are special places to plan excursions, as the cliffs, Masca, Tamaimo and Alto del Cherfe, a viewpoint with extraordinary panorama. The Cliffs, a cutted vertically seaboard with an average height of 450 meters. It has a modern marina, a fisherman's town with an architectural style that recalls the Canaries, and a small sandy beach called Guíos or Guinchos.
Just half a kilometre from Puerto de Santiago, stays Playa de la Arena, one of the best coves of the island that enjoys natural protection and adequate services.
All this part of the coastline enjoys the highest levels of brightness of the island and allows to contemplate unique sunsets, that win attractive by the proximity of the island of La Gomera.
These two resorts stretches along the coasts of Arona and Adeje, respectively.
In Adeje exist estates such as Playa del Duque, Fañabé, Torviscas, San Eugenio and the original town of Playa de las Americas.

A series of different building works on the coast has provided different sandy beaches, like those of Torviscas and Bobo.
In San eugenio estate is "Puerto Colon", a marina, where different boat trips leave.
The climate here is very dry and sunny the most part of the year, so we advise caution and sun protection.
The boundary between the municipality of Adeje and Arona is defined by the Barranco del Rey. In this area there are several golden sand beaches, as Cuevitas and Troya, very busy and with a very sunny and dry climate.
After Punta del Camisón there´s Las Vistas beach, newly regenerated, with nearly two kilometers.
In the town of Candelaria stays the basilica where the patron saint of the Canary archipelago is venerated. Place of pilgrimage, with vast beaches and corners of historical tradition. The Virgin of Candelaria reached Chimisay beach, the Guanches picked her up and placed in the cave Achibinico, today called San Blas. Now, a temple hosts the most venerated image by all islanders.

At the end of the XIV century, and therefore few hundred years before the conquest of Tenerife appeared on the shores of Güímar a Gothic carving of the Virgin of Candelaria; image that the Guanches worshipped under the name of Chaxiraxi (Lady of the World). Since 1526 remained in the sanctuary that Pedro Fernandez de Lugo ordered. This primitive image disappeared because of a flood in 1826; the current carving is the work of Fernando Estévanez from Tenerife, who performed it in 1827.
The basilica was designed by the architect Enrique Marrero Regalado, built in 1959 thanks to the initiative of the bishop of Tenerife, Domingo Perez Caceres, a native of Güímar. From regionalist style, is divided into three naves, with roof that copies the Mudejar style and a 25 meters high dome. There´s also a central tower of 45 meters, that has a canary balcony.
The Sanctuary of Virgen de la Candelaria, the convent and personal property were declared Good of Cultural Interest in 2005.
The chapel bears the image of the Virgin of Candelaria which was proclaimed in 1599 by Pope Clement VIII patron saint of the Canary archipelago, title confirmed in 1867 by Pope Pius IX.
In its interior there are murals of Jose Aguiar and works of the painter Martin Gonzalez; other works are: the agonizing Christ, a Baroque carved of the XVIII century, and a baptismal font of great historical value of the XVI century. Near Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias rise nine Menceyes Guanches, a bronze work of the sculptor from Tenerife Jose Abad.
